A tropical country, which also has the world's oldest rainforest, Malaysia has hot and humid weather. October to February is monsoon time on the east coast. During this time, Malaysia is mostly wet, the sea is rough and the coastal roads are flooded with water, leading to disruption in communication and tourist operations.
Sarawak, on the other hand, enjoys an equatorial climate. The temperature in Kuching is more or less uniform all through the year and it stays within the range of 23 °C and 32 °C. From March to September, the weather is usually warm and dry.
In the lowlands, humidity is consistently high, ranging from 85% to 95% annually. Depending on the locality, the average rainfall every year is between 3300 mm and 4600 mm. The wettest months are from November to February.
Like most tropical cities, Kuching enjoys sunshine throughout the year. Rains and heavy showers are occasional and occur due to precipitation or the monsoon season. Hail might occur in Kuching, but tremors, strong winds and heavy thunderstorms are very unlikely.
When to Go
The best time to visit Kuching is during the hot season between March and October. Monsoons occur between November and February, but do not significantly hinder tourist activities.|
