Walking is the best way of getting around the town of Kuching, whilst taxis make it easy to get to further destinations.
By Taxi
For those who prefer to travel by road, taxis are a good option. The good news is that a person can share the taxi with any four passengers going to the same place and thus pay only one-fourth the total amount. Tourists should remember, however, that the law allows only four passengers per taxi.
By Bus
There are frequent and regular bus services to all parts of the country. These buses operate on regular routes are run pretty much on schedule. Besides, they are convenient and efficient.
By Car
Car hire services, including international ones such as Avis, are available in all parts of the country. This means that tourists can hire a car in one city, self-drive it to another city and then leave it at a pre-designated point. While the usual formalities apply, tourists must ensure they have an excellent road map, insurance and an international driving licence. Most companies accept payment by major credit cards. A travel agent or hotel could provide any additional details required.
